PEMDAS

PEMDAS is a major subject in this unit this is not only part of this unit but it is a rule for everyday life, this is an order followed by everyone to get the same answer in any type of equations P stands for paranthesis E stands for exponent the M stands for multyplication D stands for division A stands for addition and S stands for substraction, altough multiplication and division are in the same "rate" as well as additon and substraction.

A simple way to remember this is as "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally" if you do not remember this you will make common mistakes that everyone does that will ruin your answer completely and if it is a test you will get a bad grade, this is for example to add two numbers instead of multypling a good example is 2+3 (8) most people when they do not follow pemdas would put 40 becuase they add 2+3 and then multiply when first they have to multiply and then add so the answer would be 26, for our good luck calculators already have this function automatically.

another common mistake would be:
8 (20+2)
many people would do
(160+2)= 162
when the real answer is
8 (22)= 176

a nice example of order of operations is
(8+2) 5+4/2-1
first you would paranthesis
(10) 5+4/2-1
because there is no exponent you do multiplications.
50+4/2-1
then you do division
50+2-1
then you do additon
54-1
finally you do substraction
